Where are you? Are you practicing your English?
It's Spring Break at the UEM and the campus is deserted. Everyone has this week off and I doubt that anyone will read this until Monday. That's OK with me. There is a much better way to practice your English this week.
Many English-speaking tourists from Scandinavia and Holland as well as England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales are flocking to Spain, searching for fun in the sun. They are traveling to different cities, and invading the beaches just like many of you are.
It would be a REALLY GOOD idea to talk to them. Tell them about your country and ask them questions about theirs. When you see them struggling with a map, show them the way. Suggest good places for "tapas" and be sure they try the best ones. Tell them about any local festivals or processions. And IF you're REALLY, REALLY afraid of making a fool of yourself, tell them your ENGLISH TEACHER told you to talk to a tourist this week and would they PLEASE,PLEASE talk to you for a few minutes!
Remember: This is an assignment! And you can pick your partner ! Have fun. Wendy

Have you noticed that many of the people who work in the cafeteria in Building A speak English? Well, some, like Reme and Clara speak English. And Blanca will greet you with a "Hello. How are you, 'seño'?"If you ask Juan for a "café con leche", he'll ask you if you want the milk "hot or warm?". This week Lola and Juan have learned a very useful phrase, "Excuse me. I'm busy!"And they really are BUSY, especially about 10:30 in the morning.
"Excuse me. I'm busy. " A very useful expression.
For those of you who haven't mastered the pronunciation of "busy" but really want to reply when someone asks you to do ONE MORE THING try this: /eks qius mi. aim bisi/
