    Spelling game !

In English you can often build words from smaller words which often have totally different meanings. You can also take letters out of a word, one by one, each time leaving another word:Check out the YOUTUBE before you begin.

Try this one. Then scroll down for the anwer:

    head
    ----
    ---
    --
    --

    head
    had
    ad
    -a

    Now try these these:
    date
    ----
    ---
    --
    --

    date
    ate
    at
    -a

    brain
    -----
    ----
    ---
    --
    --

    brain
    rain
    ran
    an
    -a

    Let's try building words.For example:

    -I
    is
    his
    this

    -I
    in
    tin
    thin
    think
    thinks

    -a
    an
    tan
    than
    thank
    thanks

    -a
    am
    ham
    hams
    shams
    shames

    -I
    in
    win
    wine
    whine
    whines

Now use some of your words:

You've got a good head . You are quite a brain! It's a shame that you whine when you can't get your way!

    Picture Story--Number 1

Look at the pictures and tell a story:

What is this and where is it? Can you tell me about what you see and what you don't see?

This is a paddle boat on the Mississippi River near Hannabal, Missouri. It's a quiet little town about 5 hours from Chicago by car. Mark Twain loved this area, and you can visit sites he mentions in his books about Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.

  • April Fool's Day April 1st

You celebrate April Fool's Day in Spain at a different time of year.
Let's see if you can figure out what I'm talking about.

    Example 1:
Your brother ALWAYS monopolizes the bathroom in the morning. You ALWAYS want to get in at 9:00 but he makes you wait for 20 minutes while he takes a shower, shaves and talks to you through the locked door.
You get up very early on April 1st and lock yourself in the bathroom.
You turn on your music and start the shower, write a message for him on the mirror with his shaving cream saying "Happy April Fool's Day", put something under the door so it doesn't open easily as you leave, and go into your room to get ready for school. After listening to him complain outside the bathroom door for 10 minutes, you walk by and say "Good Morning. Happy April Fool's Day."

    Example 2:
Your friend thinks he's really smart. You tell him you saw the results of the exam and he got the best grade in the class. He starts telling everyone, but when he goes to see the scores posted on the bulletin board, he sees that he got the lowest passing grade. You say, "Happy April Fool's Day."

On April Fool's day you play tricks on your friends and family. In Spain it's "Santos Inocentes" December 28th
